Work Accounts vs Personal Accounts

Set up workflows for MSP/client orgs and personal or family-use accounts, including connection code flow.

Caisey supports both managed workspaces and personal/family support. Pick the setup path based on who owns the device and who needs the audit trail.

Work account / MSP setup

A work account is best for MSPs, IT teams, and customer environments.

  • Group machines by client.
  • Use organization-wide, client-specific, or machine-specific installers.
  • Keep technician activity in the workspace audit log.
  • Rotate installer commands if one is exposed.

Recommended work flow

  1. Open Machines.
  2. Click Add machine.
  3. Choose platform (Windows or Mac).
  4. Assign the machine to a client when appropriate.
  5. Copy the installer command.
  6. Run it through RMM, GPO, or a trusted admin shell on the endpoint.
  7. Return to Machines and wait for ready.

Personal account setup

A personal account is best for helping your own devices or trusted family devices.

  • Client groups are hidden.
  • Device limits depend on your plan.
  • Family setup uses a temporary connection code and public setup page.

Family / personal connection flow

  1. Generate a connection code from the personal machine setup flow.
  2. Share the code only with a trusted person.
  3. The person opens /connect/<ABCD-EFGH>.
  4. They review the page and download the installer for their platform.
  5. The endpoint registers and appears under Machines.

Treat connection codes like temporary secrets. Share them only with the person who should install Caisey.

Which path should I use?

  • Use work/MSP setup for customer machines, shared technician teams, compliance review, and client grouping.
  • Use personal setup for family IT or devices you personally administer.
  • Do not use a personal connection code for a customer endpoint that belongs in an MSP workspace.
